HST, PST & GST....yes ~ no ~ wtf?

yesterday I received two envelopes mailed to my door. the envelope with my name on it wanted me to vote on the HST. How much does all this cost??? why can't they just reduce the tax instead of inviting everyone to vote on something most of us don't know anything about, or I don't. HST, GST, PST ~ they are all tax. Call it what you wnat they are skimming off the top both ways!! what is my choice one tax or another tax...how is that a choice?

I agree Henny, it is confusing...to me its all tax and it's gonna cost me no matter what and it's just going into a pot that I have no control over or say about ~ not really. True I can vote but really...unless I have more people voting with me my vote doesn't sway very much...just look at the last few elections.

I know that sounds defeatest...I'm not really but I am frustrated. I will vote, I always do because it's our right and responsibility...also sometimes it's the only public voice we still have. But this whole HST issue has become such a taxpayer waste of time and mone...again! We have been saddled with something that we were not even consulted on. And now this government, in my opinion anyways, is just trying to spin it so that it passes and they come out smelling good...but I think it's still a stinker of a tax. The problem is if we vote to extinquish it then it will cost us millions or billions to clean up the mess. And if we don't then it will cost us millions and billions to keep it!

Apparently though I will get back aproximately $125.00 this year if I go for the new version of the tax ~ whoop-dee-doo....$125 a month is a savings...a year is a joke ~ that's not even a weeks worth of groceries. It's a bribe and an insult really...and we may not get it for 2 years! and what if they don't stay in government...do I still get my pittance...

I honestly think they did that on purpose...bring it in even though we didn't really want it and make it costly to get rid of so we keep it...they know us BC'ers...we'll cave like we always do...we don't want to fight, we don't want a hassle and we don't want to make loud waves...

I do like that Vanderzalm is in there stirring the pot ~ I'm not sure he's fully correct or what his real agenda is...he was self fullfilling when he was in power too...but it's kinda fun to see him rock the boat :)

hmmm...I like the idea of a flat 10% tax and big business taking on some of the load ~ but this government is a business government and they will give business a break somewhere down the road...even watching the business representatives at their press conferences who are for the HST is cute...they look so awkward ~ like someone gave them the speach just before they had the mike pushed in their face...do they really believe their words or are they just scared?

I think a combo would be fair, after all we need taxes and this province is too expensive to live in...10% on everything except service and children under 16. And hold big business to their 2%.

So often what bothers us about what goes on around us is not always "what" it is but how we think about it. We see what we think we see. Then we get another perspective and we change how we think and so often we change how we feel.

When we listen to what others think...we can see that there is a whole other way of looking at things....and when we see things differently we can react differently and by going one step further....take action ~ differently and possibly make this world a better place to think in....
